In the five steps to building a great offense, Step Three asks “Are you are keeping the defense honest?” In this article and the video below, you can see how Jeremy Reynolds from Springs Valley High School uses two simple plays that build off each other to do exactly this.
The first formation is a Quads set with four wide receivers to the wide side and the ball is on the hash. The play is a bubble screen and the offense has a definite numbers advantage. With receivers blocking defenders leverage and a running back taking the ball outside, there is a ton of room to run in open space for your athletes.
The second play is a perfect compliment to the bubble screen because after teams have seen bubble, they start to cheat. Here on the two point play they run H-Bubble Slant. This plays puts H in motion to key the defense and then when the ball is snapped the slant opens up right behind the line backers who are keying the backs motion. This is a great play against man coverage on the goal line.
Both these plays are covered in detail in video breakdowns exclusively for Insider Members only.
