It's "Get Real Honest" time right now. Have you defined your offense yet? Do you have a written out statement that clearly identifies who you are and what you are trying to accomplish offensively? I'm not talking exact numbers here, but what is your overall offensive strategy? It should look something like this…

If not you may be spending valuable practice time on things that are not worth your while. Stop trying to do everything and instead get focused on the most meaningful things.

You can't do everything well. Jack of all trades…master of none is the truth to football coaches and teams. Don't let your team become the jack of all trades. That's how you lose games.

I'd rather a coach commit to one way only but really commit to doing it better then anybody else has ever done it before. I don't even care if it's not the latest and best coaching technique out there. I'll take great intensity of coaching over the greatest coaching techniques any day. So even if your wrong, you can still be right! Kind of takes the stress out of it all doesn't it?

I think is is why some teams and coaches that are considered "old school" can still beat up on teams that are trying to use the latest and greatest techniques.

Can you be great and modern? Of course, but you have to commit to what your doing and know the why. Don't waver.
